She's a ranger so she could have far shot at any time, even without pre-reqs. It's also possible she has favored enemy: Orc, Because in Pathfinder that adds bonuses to attack (as well as damage). I know she was raised by an orc but it's not like orcs don't kill orcs.

She's a Half-Orc herself. Your point about Orc killing Orc is still valid, though.

All being a half-orc would mean, according to 3.5e rules(not sure about Pathfinder) is that she couldn't choose half-orcs as a favored enemy unless she were of an evil alignment.

Which is a really stupid rule. Because there are evil people of all races, and a good human ranger that specializes in hunting bandits (the majority of which are probably human given how many humans there are.) should be able to train to be more effective at it.

I don't think there are any restrictions on what favored enemies you can choose in either 3.5 or pathfinder. A lawful good ranger could pick favored enemy Outsider (good) if they wanted to.

I tried taking favored enemy self once. It was quite amusing to have a character who needed to be constantly be on the lookout for himself, and he attacked mirrors and reflective glass on sight.

The character was essentially a rooster with a pair of daggers. It made for a highly entertaining scene when the DM tried to resolve this with the pool of self reflection. And apparently his inner self really was out to get him.

... Man, you're in (have been in) a lot of games. I wish I (well, my friends) had time to be in that many games.
