Well, that was a super lucky turn of events!

Then again, if she had killed the monk, they could have looted the corpse, and we all know monks are fabulously wealthy.

Actually the good ones are, an amulet of mighty fists runs 4x the cost of a similarly enchanted weapon plus since a monk needs to rely on all 6 stats they're usually wearing multiple stat boosters as well as bracers of armor, and some means of magical flight and invisiblility detection in fact they're largely regarded by the optimization community as by far the most gear dependant class.

I don't know. With the right feats and class combos you can be nearly non-reliant on magic items as a monk. I'm playing a Chaos Monk/Spirit Lion Totem Barbarian in one campaign I'm in and our entire party has been starved of magic items because our DM is forgetful about that kind of stuff (Its horrible, I know). An easy way for the monks to ignore MAD is by focusing on one aspect of the monk. For my monk, hes a quarterstaff wielding monk with leap attack, combat brute, shock trooper and a whole mess of other feats which effectively means he can wipe out a whole level equivalent encounter by himself in 1-2 rounds. Granted, magic items make everything better, and if you're using core or limited resources then the monk is definitely the most item dependent class.

Yeah I can see how that build works a whole lot better than the vanilla monk but you're not really playing a monk as a High OP barbarian with a dip into a semi-monkish presigue class.

Don't forget, VoP stands for "Very overpriced Pretties".

anyone who wants to bet that he didn't is either stupid, or so addicted to betting that he would bet even if life and them themself are betting against him
