"DPS - Not Healer!"
In the end sometimes someone wants to just play a high damage character rather than buy into the whole party versatility thing. I am not one of those people. But I can respect wanting to focus on the thing you like to do. Which in this case is dealing a ton of damage in numerous ways. He doesn't need to excuse or explain anything.

honestly if his group spent it's Wealth on level appropiate gear instead of thousands and thousands of drinks then he actually made the more optimal choice. Healing between battles is really really cheap with a cure light wounds wand while Large AOE damage is expensive and difficult to find. Also Negative channeling is a prereq for the very very very nice Command Undead Feat.

not to mention that a single d6 (plus what i assume is a fairly low char bonus (due to orc and min maxing)) at higher levels is rubbish when it comes to combat healing, but it might just be what you need to take out a few minions so you don't get swarmed.

Its 1d6 per 2 cleric levels, the CHA mod just gives him more uses

ah, sorry, my bad. point still stand, a single d6 turns to crappy healing that at best can be used to stabilize pretty quick.

only plus side to it, is that aoe stabilize can be pretty good when all goes to hell.

I'm not sure why you keep specifying a single d6. Damage or healing from that ability equals 1d6 per every odd-numbered level. Which means at higher levels it will usually bring unconscious characters back up to positive hitpoints. Right now, for Zero, it deals 2d6.

Regardless, it's still pretty weak. At 19th level it only deals as much damage as a fireball at caster level 10.

"Command Undead, Good? hhahahaha"
Are we talking about the same command undead feat or are you thinking of the very similar spells and abilities that outdo it by a bunch.

Course the same can be said of undead based builds in general.

What he don't say is that you need to have a neutral deity for this and we don't know his.
