See. Perfect. You just demonstrated the rules of coming back to life, the implications there in, the cost and the effect it can have on people in three fricking panels.

It's like: "Wait, people can just do that? Bring people back to life?" It really makes you question the power of money in that world.

At epic level in 3.5, it get's really weird. Like, 400 people were killed during one of our missions (nothing we could have stopped except with perfect initiative rolls maybe), and after the fight we just... called in someone to do a miracle and they were all alive. Oh, and you can true resurrect people for free, with minimal effort. Free. (well, a spell slot, but that's like a half dozen people who have died within the last 200+ years per day, again with minimal effort)

Never heard of that one before. Mind expounding on how you got it so True Res doesn't cost 25 thousand gold?

Epic spells break all of the rules.

Now that's diabolical. Raise people from the dead, then force them to pay off the debt with interest.

it's 5k though... it's going to take them a LONG time to work that of.

a trained proffesional earns half a profession check a week in gold, averaging at 6-7 gp (assuming it has 1-2 ranks in commoner and ranks up profession at all times) that also have to cover for living expenses will take forever until its paid of. and that is if you raise a craftsman. (ok, it will only take about 714 weeks, about 13,7 years if everything he earns goes to you. minus living expenses and worn out tools, maybe 20?)

if it's an unskilled laborer... that 1 silver piece per day probably means that you will never, ever, break even until your debt slave dies of old age. unless you raised an elf. i mean, it's all his wages for 136,9 years...

point being, while it's definitely a good way of making a dept slave, even with an extremely lenient interest rate, only an extremely long lived race would ever be able to pay it back. of course, if YOU are a long lived race, you could always make the dept inheritable by his descendants.

"I raised your great great grandfather, so you work for me."

"I didn't know clerics could act as nursemaids!"

"No, from the dead."

"Well you didn't do a very good job then, did you?"

Well obviously you can't do it to everyone, but if you worked with an assassin, maybe a full criminal orgianzation, picked the right targets, arranged "accidents", convince nearby family member to accept the debt in order to raise them, you could get a decent entrapment scheme going.

Edit: Or you can be a lvl 18 Witch and just revive people for free every single day.

if you are an lv 18 witch, you probably have easier ways of getting money.

it would sot of be as if apple tried to corner the lemonade stand market in a town. sure, they could do it, and they might even earn money doing so.but surely they have more profitable ways to spend their time
