Welcome to mid levels, Hitting things with sharp metal things slowly ceases to be a useful way of dealing with your problems as everything's HP and AC start getting exponentially higher. Luckily one of you two is in a class that learns new ways to solve problems.

Not sure what game you're playing but mid levels is where Melee Warriors shine in Pathfinder. Properly geared, with any kind of spellcaster willing to throw a fly spell your way every once in a while, and that stays true till about 15th lvl. With a good build you will still destroy spellcasters. You may not be as versatile but 'hitting things with sharp metal things' is a very solid skill set through out most of Pathfinders levels.

Not to mention reliable. A wizard is only as good as his spell slots. If he runs out he's stuck on a single cantrip per turn. Nevermind if a circumstance arises where he can't cast for some reason (only has AoE's prepped but would hit allies for example).

I'm not saying that spells don't beat stabby metal, just that it's not AS big a gap as people fear. Kind of like the odds of a wild magic sorcerer casting that fireball. Odds are it won't happen; but some people refuse to even touch them just because of that tiny chance.
