The problem is, low-level familiars aren't any smarter than the average barbarian. Though if their master has ranks in appraisal they can be... alright.

To be fair the average merchant running a standard NPC style shop doesn't need to be much smarter than an average barbarian either. Just faster so they can outrun them when they demand more money or a refund.

Barbarians have +10 foot movement :P
