This has always bothered me. Some spells/abilities give resistance to damage types in various games of which 'blunt' is an option. So if I'm falling from a great height couldn't I use said spell/ability to block the blunt damage from being smashed with the entire planet at terminal velocity (or whatever my speed is)?

You might be able to reduce about 10 out of an average of 70.
Alternatively, you could just use a first level spell to slow yourself down enough to not take damage at all.

But what if you don't have said first level spell but you do have, say, Blade Ward or something?
