As long as they make sure to give them proper xp after they finish I approve. Though I'm not entirely sure what a correct xp distribution is with a couple much higher level people involved doing a large portion of the work (though the parties did a pretty good job with the zombie dragon)

Considering the meta plot it’s unlikely and there’s that GM that hands out magic items and stuff like 2 cent candy. If he’s allowed to do that then this is fine.
